Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (or PUFAs) are fatty acid chains that contain two or more double bonds (kinks in the chain). This makes them fragile, and vulnerable to oxidative damage with exposure to heat, light and oxygen. Common oils in food and skincare products that are highly polyunsaturated include sunflower, safflower, rapeseed (Canola), flax, almond, sesame, soy and corn. When these oils are used regularly on the skin, they quickly oxidise (spoil) resulting in free radical damage, accelerating the visible signs of ageing. Saturated fats on the other hand are stable and protective. Saturée skincare products contain no PUFAs.
Not only are Saturée skincare products free of polyunsaturated seed oils, they also contain none of the other industry-standard, potentially toxic, conventional skincare ingredients. Our long ‘NO’ list includes (to name a few) Parabens, Carbomers, Phthalates, PEG, PPG, SLS, SLES, Talc, Silicones, Titanium dioxide, Polymers, Squalane, Paraffins, drying alcohols, artificial fragrances, Aluminum compounds, synthetic peptides, petroleum derivatives or Oxybenzone. These ingredients with regular use have been shown to accumulate in skin tissue and even show up in the bloodstream, contributing to hormonal disruption, liver issues and other health complications.
